FEDS' NETWORK TO TRACK BIOATTACKS
June 7, 1999: The federal government will construct a network linking hospital labs, government labs, and public health offices that will aid public health officials in diagnosing and tracking unusual patient symptoms that may indicate a biological terrorist attack. Forty-one million dollars in federal funding has been approved for construction of the network, which is expected to be operational by August 1999. [Chicago Sun Times, June 7]
